I was wondering if I would have problems if I ran a Gm type II/Saginaw TC pump with 3 to 3.5 gpm/1,500 psi? If these numbers are too high, do you know of a manufacture that makes this style pump with your recommended flow rates? thanks

    Administrator
    Sep 12, 2022, 10:06

The flow rate will be just fine with our steering box, the pressure may be a bit high but you can always lower the pressure with one of our 899001 pressure reducing kits.

I am going to replace leaking power steering unit on 1986 chevy c10. Steering wheel turns 3.5 turns , stop to stop. How soes the 12.7 ratio compare. I am concerned about over sensitive freeway driving. Thanks! Ron

The 12.7:1 ratio is a total of three turns lock-to-lock. With the modern steering valve it is not overly sensitive and provides great feel and feedback on the highway as well as back roads.

What model would fit a 1967 Chevy C10?

    Administrator
    Jul 5, 2022, 12:17

Our part #800132 can be used on the 1967 trucks as well however not all 1967 frames are properly relieved for power steering and installation may require shimming or light frame modifications if you have a flat frame.

This is not bolting up to my 1984 c10 frame. The bolt boss sticks out and my original was flush. Am I out of luck or have yall seen this before?

    Administrator

We have seen some variations in the C10 frames that can cause this. You can either fill the void with a spacer or massage the frame a bit for proper fitment.

What is the recommended power steering fluid for these gearboxes?

    Administrator

We recommend a standard GM power steering fluid such as an AC Delco 10-5073
