I purchased the 1968-1970 manual steering kit to install on my 67 Cougar and I'm have fitment issues with the steering box. The steering box casting # is P30B 17K09. It seems as if the sector shaft portion of the steering box is too short and won't allow the box to tilt back far enough for the bolts to engage the mounting flange. A y help will be appreciated. Thank you

Check for interference with the frame where the flat mounting plate part of the box meets the round piston bore area. There is a web of castings there that can contact the frame not allowing the box to rotate fully in to position. If that is the case you can grind out a small bit of the casting web which should allow the box to rotate in to position.
